“We at Herbalife have always been committed to raising awareness on the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy active lifestyles. This is why the wellness tour has and will always be an integral part of our yearly plan. Through this wellness tour, we hope to delve deeper into prevalent health-related issues in Malaysia and impart useful tips in curbing these issues through talk and dialogue sessions” said Sridhar Rajagopalan, Sub-Regional General Manager, Herbalife Malaysia & Singapore. “Our previous two tours have yielded successful turnouts and we are excited to kick off the third Asia-Pacific Wellness Tour in Malaysia,” added Sridhar.
A key highlight of the Wellness Tour is the talk and dialogue session presented by Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board member, Dr. Nataniel Viuniski, paediatrician and nutritional expert specializing in weight management and childhood obesity. He is also the advisor to Brazil’s Health and Education Ministry for Childhood Obesity and director of nutrition service for Unimed Hospital in Rio Grande do Sul. At the session in Hospital University Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM), Dr. Nataniel addressed a crowd of doctors, nurses, lecturers and professors on the tried-and-tested methods that have been implemented in Brazil to prevent childhood obesity. He also touched on the importance of parents setting an example to their children by eating healthy foods and exercising regularly as a simple yet powerful method in curbing childhood obesity in the long run.
Another key highlight of the Wellness Tour was the health talk at Asia Metropolitan University, also presented by Dr. Nataniel. The talk in, Asia Metropolitan University, which is known as the leading provider of Nursing and Allied Health education in Malaysia, drew in a strong crowd of enthused students who were all gathered before Dr.Viuniski as he disseminated accurate and up to date data on childhood obesity and preventative methods. The talk ended with a lively question & answer session which saw students’ direct relevant questions to Dr.Viuniski who in return, helped them better understand the issue surrounding childhood obesity.
“Childhood obesity has been a growing concern in Malaysia and we seek to bring a fresh perspective on this subject,” said Sridhar. “It is interesting that in some cases, a simple lifestyle change such as choosing healthier eating options and encouraging children to participate in physical activities can make a difference. Through these talks, we want to raise awareness on this subject and share preventative measures to combat this problem.”
